In Tbilisi will be build a new center for air traffic control.
Capsule of the Centre in the foundation was laid by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, new Tbilisi Mayor David Narmania and deputy of metropolitan "City Council" Guliko Zumbadze.
As it was reported in the Georgian economic department, the project was developed by the Center "Lebo", and the construction work will be carried out by the tender winner Georgian company "Dagie". Construction of the Center, that estimates cost of 7 million GELS (lari) (about $ 4 million) will be completed within two years. On the construction will be employed about 200 people.
"The new Center will be equipped with modern technologies and systems consistent with international standards developed by Eurocontrol and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and for the purchase of new systems for air traffic control in autumn this year will be announced an international tender, which would cost approximate 9 million Euros "- was reported in the Georgian economic department.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development noted that this project will contribute to core business of air navigation, aviation safety, and the transition to higher standards.
The functions of the Centre will also include a backup device in case of failure of the primary system for managing air traffic controllers for a few seconds will go to a backup system and continue full operation.
The new Center will provide full safety of flights in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and controlled by Georgia airspace.
